Peer Health Educator

Hello! My name is Karen, I use she/her pronouns and am a sophomore planning to major in biology. I am on the pre-med track, and I enjoy learning about how we can use both science and compassion to improve our own lives and the lives of people around us! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, running outdoors, and cooking new recipes. I am excited to be a peer health educator because I love to be involved in my university community and learn about how to promote our wellbeing as college students. The biggest lesson I have learned in college so far is that while change can be scary, it almost always brings good along with it. This theme is at the heart of many of the messages we spread as peer health educators. College can be a time of a lot of transition and uncertainty. It is the responsibility of peer health educators to take a compassionate and open minded stance towards learning about new perspectives and research. Sharing tools on how to balance stress and responsibilities, build healthy relationships, and take care of our health is important to me, because as students we are all on the same team as we transition into adulthood and figure out who we want to be.
