Jacob

Peer Health Educator

Hi everybody! My name is Jacob, and I use he/him pronouns. I am currently in my 4th year here at UW studying biology. Outside of my normal coursework I’m studying to become an EMT and hope to one day go on to medical school. I love learning about how the world around us works and have a strong desire to help others. In my freetime I love to play video games with my friends and will take any chance that I get to head up to the mountains to hike or ski.

I became a Peer Health Educator because I want to help other people with the things that I have struggled with in the past. Having dealt with extreme stress, bad sleeping and eating habits, and overall poor mental health, I know how difficult it is to get through it on your own. This job gives me the opportunity to provide people who are struggling with the resources and information that they need to tackle these challenges head on, and to come out the other side better than they were before. Everyone deserves to be happy and healthy and I hope that I can help people to achieve that in their own lives.
